My name is Justine, I’m 26 years old, and I’ve had a heart condition since birth.
I was born with transposition of the great arteries and pulmonary stenosis. From infancy through adulthood, I’ve undergone several major surgeries and have had two pacemakers.
Last December (December 2025), I returned to the operating room for a valve replacement. Unfortunately, there were several complications, and I was hospitalized for the entire month (December 2–29). To help my recovery, part of my stomach had to be removed due to a perforation and infection. I was connected to a VAC system until December 25.
Next week (February 2026), I will undergo another surgery to replace the pacemaker I’ve had since 2016.
Nothing can stop me. Despite everything, I’m very active and love running and long walks. Since returning home and being off work, I’ve been enjoying walks — the weather has been beautiful!
