Privacy Policy2026-05-08T12:26:05-04:00

As an organization working to raise funding for the health and social services sector, we collect, use, and disclose information daily for the purpose of providing our services related to fundraising activities of various kinds, participation in events, and information shared on our platforms. Privacy is important to us. We comply with the highest ethical standards when handling all information, especially personal information.

This Privacy Policy is intended to help you understand our practices regarding the collection, use, disclosure, and retention of personal information. By providing us with personal information (through our website, by completing an event participation form or OTHER APPLICABLE DIGITAL TOOL, E.G. CRM, by email, in person, or by phone), you agree that such information will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and you authorize Fondation En Coeur, its third parties, and service providers to process your personal information for the purposes outlined below.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites accessible through links on this website, and Fondation En Coeur is not responsible for such third-party websites. If you follow a link to a third-party website, that site will have its own privacy policies which you should review before submitting any personal information.

WHO ARE WE AND WHAT DO WE DO?

“To be a true support system for children with heart disease and their families.”

Did you know that in Quebec, 1 child out of 100 is born with a heart disease or congenital heart defect requiring medical follow-up?

This represents 900 new families facing this diagnosis every year.

Fondation En Cœur’s mission is therefore to help children with congenital heart disease and their families by providing information and support services. En Cœur also aims to raise public awareness about the importance of supporting children with heart disease and their parents.

In pursuit of its mission, Fondation En Cœur organizes several events and provides various publications (books and brochures) intended to facilitate families’ access to relevant and reassuring sources of information.

When processing special categories of personal information, we may also rely on important public interest grounds (prevention or detection of crime) or legal claims.
  • To enforce our rights, comply with legal or regulatory disclosure obligations, or protect the rights of third parties.
  • To ensure payment — to recover amounts owed to us and, where necessary, enforce such recovery through debt collection agencies or other legal means (including legal proceedings).
  • To reorganize or modify our organization — if we undertake a reorganization (for example, through a merger, consolidation, or transfer of part of our mission), we may need to transfer some or all personal information to an applicable third party (or its advisors) as part of any due diligence or transfer process to the reorganized entity or third party for the same purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy or for analyzing any proposed reorganization. In such situations, we will take all reasonable measures to ensure the protection and security of personal information.
  • Any other use of personal information by Fondation En Coeur.

We have implemented measures to ensure that only staff members who need access to your personal information, or whose duties reasonably require such access, are authorized to do so.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure.   • Accuracy: we are required to take reasonable measures to ensure that the personal information in our possession is accurate, complete, not misleading, and up to date;
  • Rectification: the right to request correction of any incomplete or inaccurate personal information we hold;

  • The right to be informed when subject to a decision based exclusively on automated processing;
  • The right to be informed when identification, location, or profiling technologies are used and of the means available to activate these features.

Finally, it is also possible to file a complaint with a data protection authority, particularly in the country, province, or state in which you normally reside (in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information), where we are located, or where an alleged violation of data protection laws has occurred.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us as indicated in the section “How to Contact Us.”

What types of cookies are used by Fondation En Coeur?

The categories of cookies used by Fondation En Coeur and its providers are described below.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential to allow you to browse the website and access its features.

Without these cookies, the services you request (such as navigation from one page to another) cannot be provided.

Performance Cookies

We use analytics cookies to analyze how visitors use our websites and to monitor website performance. This allows us to provide a high-quality experience by customizing our offerings and quickly identifying and correcting any issues. For example, we may use performance cookies to track which pages are the most popular, determine which linking methods between pages are the most effective, and identify why certain pages generate error messages. We may also use these cookies to highlight articles or services on the site that may be relevant to you based on your use of the website. Neither we nor our providers associate information collected through these cookies with your personal information.

Website Functionality Cookies

We use cookies to provide you with certain functionality. For example, to remember choices you make (such as your username or language) or to recognize the platform from which you access the site and provide enhanced and more personalized features. These cookies are not used to track your browsing activity on other websites.

Targeting Cookies

Targeting cookies (or advertising cookies) collect information about your browsing habits and are used to better tailor advertising to you and your interests. They are used by third-party services such as Like or Share buttons. The AddThis cookies mentioned above are also examples of targeting cookies. These third parties provide these services in exchange for recognizing that you have visited our website.

When you use LinkedIn, Twitter, or other sharing buttons available, you are directed to a page controlled by these companies, which may place cookies (including targeting cookies), and you will be subject to the cookie policies of LinkedIn, Twitter, or another relevant website respectively.

Use of IP Addresses and Web Logs

We may also use your IP address and browser type to help diagnose problems with our server, administer our website, and improve the services we offer you. An IP address is a numeric code that identifies your computer on the Internet. Your IP address may also be used to collect broad demographic information.

We may perform IP address checks to determine the domain from which you originate (e.g., google.com) in order to gain a better understanding of our users’ demographics.

Information derived from these types of cookies and technologies is not combined with information from another source that concerns you and will not allow us to identify you personally.

Invisible Pixels in HTML Emails and Webinars

Our marketing emails contain a unique campaign-specific “invisible pixel” that informs us whether our emails are opened and, combined with other technologies, tracks clicks on links within the email. We may use this information for various purposes, including determining which emails are most interesting to you and asking users who do not open our emails whether they wish to continue receiving them. The pixel will be deleted when you delete the email. If you do not wish the pixel to be downloaded onto your device, you should avoid clicking on links we send you. This information may be linked to your personal identity.
