Mobile Cardiopediatric Clinic2023-07-07T14:47:56-04:00

History

For more than 20 years, En Cœur was involved in the creation of several of these clinics by financing the purchase of the van that made it possible to transport the portable device thanks to a generous donation of $200,000 from Dunkin Donuts.

The Foundation also financed the replacement of this van by a smaller vehicle when the device was changed to a device the size of a computer thanks to generous donations from different partners such as the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation and Sun Life Financial.

En Cœur has also funded the purchase of small devices for these clinics, such as:

  • cardiomemos

  • sphygmomanometers

  • pulse oximeters

  • electrocardiographs

  • Holter monitors

Aujourd’Today

This vehicle allows a cardiologist and a technician to travel to various hospitals in Quebec, thus avoiding many parents and children living in the regions having to travel for the cardiologist’s medical visit and the echocardiogram.

Relevant statistics

It is conservatively estimated that every year, in addition to saving parents 2,700 working days.

the mobile clinic also allows them to save the astronomical figure of 2,240,000 km in travel, which represents travelling around the Earth more than 56 times.

Each year, more than 6,000 patients are examined in these travelling clinics by means of an ultrasound and other associated exams on the same day.

This initiative contributes greatly to reduce congestion in the Quebec health system.
