I’m the mother of a beautiful boy who will be 50 in October 2024. When he was born, along with his twin brother, he was diagnosed with severe Tetralogy of Fallot. He underwent surgery at 4 months to allow him to wait for open-heart surgery at 4 years. As you know, En Coeur had not yet arrived, but for years, Founder Dr. André Davignon had made it his mission, his vocation. Quickly and swiftly, he took Dr. Anne Fournier under his wing. With a happy heart and clearly pleased with their achievement, the En Coeur Association was born in 1984, and would eventually become the En Coeur Foundation. The parents were delighted with this news, which would change their family’s path and experience, thanks to the services and resources provided by En Coeur.
We, the Pepin family, can never be grateful enough for En Coeur’s contribution to our lives. I had the opportunity and good fortune to be one of the 5 founding members of En Coeur. I remind you that at that time, in 1984, our son was 10 years old. As you can imagine, the arrival of En Coeur brought comfort to the hearts of children, parents, and their families. Anything En Coeur could put into motion, would give a whole new meaning to the lives of those who would benefit from it. At all times, the En Coeur Foundation team responds to the needs expressed by members and non-members alike, or refers them to other available resources. Back to our boy: at 40, he needed another open-heart operation, which went very well. He has an excellent job that he loves, a spouse and is the father of 2 beautiful, perfectly healthy boys. The En Cœur Foundation has always been present in our lives and in our hearts, and it always will be. We, the members of the Pepin family, are committed to doing everything we can to make the existence of our beautiful En Coeur Foundation, its services and its achievements even better known. The En Coeur Foundation deserves to be thanked and encouraged in its pursuit of its mission.
