In March 2024, I found out I was pregnant… not with just one baby, but two. As a twin myself, the news filled me with so much joy. The bond I share with my sister is incredibly special, and knowing that my children would get to experience that same kind of connection was something I had always dreamed of.
At 29 weeks pregnant, our world was turned upside down. We learned that Baby 1, Noah, had a congenital heart defect called transposition of the great arteries. The cardiology team at Sainte-Justine Hospital explained that he would need open-heart surgery just a few days after birth.
We live two and a half hours away from the hospital. At 34 weeks, I started having contractions and was transferred to Sainte-Justine. The medical team was able to stop the labour, but at 36 weeks, the contractions started again. Because of Noah’s heart condition, the doctors decided it was safest to induce labour.
On October 25, 2024, our little twins came into the world.
I wasn’t able to hold Noah when he was born. He was taken away immediately for his first procedure. It wasn’t until 24 hours later that I was finally able to hold him in my arms for the very first time.
At just five days old, Noah underwent open-heart surgery. Those seven hours were the longest and most difficult of my life… And yet, our little warrior faced it all like a true champion.
Eleven days later, on November 5, 2024, Noah and Théo were finally able to be together for the very first time.
Today, Noah and Théo are healthy, thriving, and full of life 🩵🩵.
Thanks to the financial support of the En Cœur Foundation, we were able to get the specialized equipment Noah needed when he came home. We were also able to stay at the Manoir, close to our little fighter, while making sure his twin brother could remain by his side. For our family, that support made an incredible difference.
