Roman was born with a heart defect nicknamed L-TGV, along with several other minor problems that led to him undergoing 3 operations at the age of 3 and 4 months! Behind this sweet face lies a pacemaker and a mechanical valve. The En Cœur Foundation was part of our lives from the first day we arrived at the CHUL. We had come from elsewhere and did not know any of this. They supported us day after day, with their beautiful smiles and invaluable listening skills. They offered us help with meals, a machine to control blood directly from home, books, but above all, incredible support when you feel all alone in the world! That little weekly hello really made a difference. Thanks to them, and to the entire CHUL team, Roman can enjoy life without the bitter taste! Thank you so much for making a difference in our lives! And for all those who are new to the world of heart disease, you will never be alone again, and that is worth all the gold in the world!
