Liam is a true miracle worker. After living with a mechanical heart for almost a year, he finally received a heart transplant in July 2018 at the age of 8.
After spending 14 months – 427 days! – at the Montreal Children’s Hospital Liam, now a teenager, received a new heart.
The 12-hour operation was a success. So much so that just 13 days later, Liam left the hospital to begin his new life.
Beyond our wildest hopes, I would tell you that Liam is one in a million (…) I think we can call it a miracle.
Liam must now take 5 medications a day to avoid rejection, among other things, but he is defying all the odds and relearning what it means to be a child.
There are very few pediatric donors in Quebec, and we are deeply grateful for the gesture made by the donor’s parents.
Although this is a delicate situation, Liam and I hope to meet this generous family one day.
Liam did not benefit directly from the help of the En Coeur Foundation. However, we have witnessed first-hand the invaluable help the Foundation provides to families in need. Now aware of the cause, we’re joining forces to support it.
