We had our first contact with the En Cœur Foundation the day after our son Antoine was born. At the time, we had no idea how important the En Cœur Foundation would become to us. Antoine has hypoplastic left heart syndrome and had his first open-heart surgery at 4 days old.
During the 54 days of hospitalization that followed, we were able to see for ourselves the impact that the Foundation has on families. Nearly every day, Marie, or Guylaine, the 2 devoted volunteers with huge hearts, came to chat with us and check up on us. Their support and attentiveness were a major help in getting us through this ordeal. In addition to the support offered by the volunteers, the Foundation provided us with meal vouchers to free us from the task of cooking, so that we could concentrate on Antoine. Finally, it provided us with medical equipment (a saturometer and a coaguchek) to make our lives easier. At each of the interventions that followed, we knew that we had a challenge ahead of us, but we also knew that we would always have the support we needed to get through it.
We have been proud to support the En Cœur Foundation since 2017, to help other families like ours.
